ERIC FOSTER / Design + Development

Hi there! I'm Eric.

I'm from San Francisco, California, by way of Atlanta, Georgia. After earning a BFA in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 2008, and having worked in the design field for a few years in Atlanta, I moved to Colorado in 2010 for a change of scenery. Following a job offer in 2013, I relocated once again, here to California. My favorite things are learning, creating, and experimenting.

I'm a frequent visitor to Smashing Magazine, a tuts+ subscriber, and a huge fan of WebAppers and Web Resources Depot (which, despite the odd names, are quite awesome). I'm a lurker on dribbble, and a member of the forrst community.
My main area of interest is designing and developing for the web, but I also love graphic design. User experience (UX) and user interface (UI) are two of my favorite acronyms.
In my free time, I like to experiment. Everything from building an Arduino Text-to-Morse Code project, to a web service (It's Blank Outside) that parsed XML data from the Google Weather API via PHP to display the current weather condition in a fuzzy, easy to understand format ("It's freezing outside."). I am always on the lookout for new things to try, and new ways to combine existing things to make something cool.

You can see a couple of my recent projects on GitHub.

I can...

  • Design and develop engaging websites from concept to final implementation
  • Create memorable logotypes for companies, products, and services
  • Code in HTML5, Javascript, CSS3, PHP, HAML, and SASS, with a little bit of Ruby, RoR and Objective-C thrown in.
  • Rapidly learn new technologies, coding languages, and methodologies as needed.
